Kathmandu, July 26 (RSS): United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Ambassador for Nepal, Saeed Hamdan Mohammed Al Naqbi, paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ today.
During the meeting that took place at the Home Ministry, matters relating to the Nepal-UAE relations, mutual interests and cooperation. The Home Minister utilised the occasion to thank the UAE government for assisting Nepal in its development efforts and providing job opportunities for Nepali workers. He called on the ambassador for help in the protection and skill enhancement of Nepali workers in the UAE, expressing gratitude to the UAE government for its support and cooperation to the committee formed to probe the incident relating to gold smuggling.
During the meeting, the UAE ambassador reminded that during the investigation into the gold smuggling, the process was on the progress to bring a person arrested in the UAE in connection to the incident at the request of Nepal.
Stating that Nepal and UAE have so far signed no agreement on the issues of combating human trafficking and other sorts of smuggling, he said the UAE government wished to have such type of agreement with Nepal. He also extended invitation to Home Minister Thapa for the UAE visit on behalf of the UAE’s deputy prime minister and home minister.
