Woman journalist and women's organization feted

Pokhara, March 8: The Free Journalists Association Kaski on Tuesday feted journalist and a women’s organization.
The Association conferred awards on journalist Ishwori Poudel and Jalpadevi Women’s Rescue Organization coinciding with its sixth anniversary and the International Women’s Day.
Poudel received Rs 5,005 in cash along with a shawl and a letter of appreciation as part of the award she received for making an ‘important contribution to society through the medium of journalism’.
The Jalpadevi Women’s Rescue Organization has been actively working for women’s empowerment and social development. The organization received Rs 5,005 and a letter of appreciation in recognition for its vital contributions.
At the programme, lawmaker Sharada Poudel said Nepal’s new constitution has ensured women’s many rights and underlined the need for women’s active participation in implementing it.
Free Journalist Association Nepal Chairperson Krishna Prasad Bastola termed women’s role as important in social transformation. Stating that the country was trailing in terms of development due to the failure to embrace the ‘importance of time’, Bastola stressed on need for everyone to focus on making the right and utmost use of available time.
On the occasion, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kaski Chapter President, Dipendra Shrestha, said society can prosper through women’s empowerment.
