Panchthar, July 12 (RSS): Former President of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Taranath Dahal, has been felicitated with this year’s ‘Freedom Fighter Award’.
The award was presented to Dahal amidst a function organized by Panchthar Chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists at Fidim on Thursday. The award carries a purse of Rs 22,222 along with a letter of appreciation. FNJ, Panchthar provides this award to a journalist every year in recognition of significant contribution to strengthen civic liberties through journalism.
Earlier, FNJ former Presidents, Bishnu Nisthuri, Shiva Gaunle and Kishor Nepal, have been already honoured from the award. Likewise, ‘The Late Haricharan Bhadramaya Environment Journalism Award’ has been presented to journalist Radha Gautam hailing from Panchthar. The award bags a cash prize of Rs 5,555. On the occasion, feted personality Dahal stressed the need for Nepali media to be more credible, dignified and professional and urged the government to not bring any laws and Acts that curtain the space of freedom of expression and opinion.
